pop matters 20 questions

Ludo might not thank me for posting this link! It’s a few months old, so apologies if it has already been linked. I really like Ludovico’s answers. I suppose a number of them are somewhat predictable, but others are very interesting. Identifying himself with Alice in Wonderland is particularly intriguing! (as is his reference to Woody Allen as a ‘fictional’ character!)

I like his choice of book. Wuthering Heights was one of the first books I read that really moved me. It didn’t make me cry, but I remember being really shocked by its cruelty. This was 25 years ago and it's still a favourite of mine. At the time, I became fascinated by the Bronte sisters, and visited Haworth a few times to see the museum and walk on the moors. I’ve read all their books, but Wuthering Heights is, in my opinion, by far the most emotive and dramatic. Emily was such an interesting person – presented as a demure Curate's daughter with little experience of life or love; Wuthering Heights suggests a very different, deeply passionate person.

I appreciate Ludovico’s answer to the question about why he’s proud of his accomplishments: ‘Because I have a place in this world’. Ludovico, I understand exactly what you mean by that. And wanting to be remembered, not for selling loads of albums and being famous, but for ‘having inspired other people to play, to paint, to write’ is deeply admirable and an example of why we love Ludovico so much. We are inspired and we will not forget.

Interesting he mentions in the final question that he’s writing a film score.

yes, Ludovico's composing music for a film on Tiziano Terzani: " un altro giro di giostra"
This's really very interesting.
I agree with you, Gabriel, I appreciate too Ludovico’s answer to the question about why he’s proud of his accomplishments.

Ludovico has all over the world a place in the heart of so many people. This is very important and beautiful.
ciao:)

I have to say, at the risk of sounding ignorant, that i do not understand Mr Einaudi's reply. I mean i do to some degree. But even at my young age i am sort of overcome daily with my own force of being alive. The fact that we are all present on this planet gives us 'place' irregardless of what we do or how we shape the space we have. Isn't that what happens? We are all born with a natural 'space' that we shape with careers, right and wrong doings… families.. etc. But no matter how we shape our lives, we still have a place in the world. Without his fantastic career and contributions to the world, Mr. Einaudi would still have the (very perfect) ‘place’ of being a father, a hard working man and a human being with an extraordinary vision. No matter what he or any of us do, we still have place. If he means that he has a place in the world where he can influence and inspire then I can see why he is exceptionally proud to be in that position – he should be – he has worked some amazing magic over the years. But in the sense of just ‘general place’ I’m sorry, but I don’t quite understand it. Am I completely missing some very obvious point? :( I hope not!!

6. You’re proud of this accomplishment, but why?
Because I have a place in this world.

7. You want to be remembered for…?
Having inspired other people to play, to paint, to write.

I think these two answers show that Ludovico has a humble man.

Thanks for this, Claudia. I love it too! The scenery is just wonderful, and the 'earth harp' is spectacular. Ludo plays it really well - he's clearly enjoying himself, which is lovely to see. Is there anything he can't do? :)

Yes, that's true, Teresa. I'd love to be there. Ludovico has so many facets to his talent and his personality. A fascinating person and a great inspiration.
