Same Cathy!
Giorni Dispari is the one and only, but my piano teacher has mucked it by cutting it 3/4 through... Supposedly it is too long for a staff dinner.

I do love Giorni Dispari, but the ending is a little anti-climatic. But I guess that's the idea - it's about a day that doesn't end as you expect, and the song mirrors that. Personally I improvise my way straight into his new Fm song once I've finished the big dramatic bit of Giorni Dispari, then kind of tag the ending on in the style of the new piece to finish it all off.

Song of the moment? My cat scratching the sofa

But yeah, now you mention Giorni Dispari I can't get it out of my head, so that I guess.

"Rainstorm" from the album Picture of Time by Dutch pianist Silvard. Super 9 track CD, and very unusual in that I love every single track! Oh, and I'm addicted to "With or Without You" by the Belgian Youth Choir "Scala" which I've seen on ClassicFM.tv. Beautiful piano accompaniment.

If we're talking Einaudi, it has to be Le Onde... I'm on that beach when I hear it... the surge of the sea, the call of Curlews and Oyster Catchers, the endless expanse of water. Heavenly.
If we're talking other music... I'm a real Roots music fan... Corinna Hewat's exquisitely beautiful harp playing in Harmonics/Martyns Jig is truly divine. Karen Matheson from Capercaillie singing in Gaelic 'mouth music'. Michael McGoldrick on the flute. John Jo Kelly (from Flook) on the bodhran - the most amazing musical moment was listening to him play a ten minute (very modern) solo on the bodhran live in a little music club in Yorkshire. Alyth McCormack with her incredibly ethereal singing.
I recently 'got into' Bjork, and was quite literally gobsmacked at how talented she is.
Then there's the truly lovely Kate Rusby and her northern folk singing. Fantastic live.
I could go on forever... music is SO good for the soul. :D

I listened to Le Onde on the beach by the ocean once. I've loved the sea ever since.

And song of the moment: Fuori Dalla Notte. I can't stop playing it at school :) Probably because I never really got round to learning it that seriously.

I love that song too - even more so when it's played just before I Giorni (I played Stella Del Mattino 3 times today actually, which is a real coincidence as I never normally play it very much!)

I'm afraid I don't know any more about it though. It might help if I knew what the "Mattino" was!

I think mattino = morning.

Does that help?

Diana Krall - Departure Bay is my favourite right now.

Sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it.

I love her latest album - 'The Girl in the Other Room' - a lot of new music, not just reworked cover versions (as much as I liked them too).

That would make sense - it's a very morning sounding song, and he always puts it before I Giorni, 'The Days'.

As for my favourite song right now, believe it or not it's a metal song. "EagleHeart" by Stratovarius. It sounds kind of cheesy, but it's catchy as hell. In fact, I did a piano arrangement of it here if anyone's interested. It's a MIDI file so it downloads in an instant, but it has no dynamics - it sounds very computer generated. I'm learning it at the moment though, so I should be able to get a real recording up at some point.

Thanks! It'll sound infinitly better recorded on a real piano though! I just have to learn it properly now, as it's quite difficult.

And yeah, that's still stuck in my head. -_-;

The Parting, by Michael HoppÈ, is the song I am listening to most at the moment. Here is a 30 second clip:

Can't get it to link to the actual track, track 5.

I agree Stephen, it is a very beautiful piece of music. :D

My piece of the moment - You're Beautiful. Very unusual for me to like something popular! :D

Have you heard the James Blunt CD? It's really good but the swearing in it caused me to cough REALLY loudly before my mum realised.... "Tears and rain" and "wise men" are both great songs off it....

I really like oasis' new song "The importance of being idle" too... I listened to the Shrek soundtracks the other day and really like the two songs by 'The Eels'... id never heard of them before though.
