Hi to all of you. I found no discussion where to discuss about movies on the english side of this forum, so here I am ;)

I am just back from having seen CRASH , a Paul Haggis movie.

Great movie from my point of view, one of the best of this season.
have you already seen it?

You english friends could find more info about this movie here: http://www.timeout.com/film/82740.html

Great topic Simo and lovely to see you over here! :D

I can't believe no-one has posted here. Where are all you film buffs? I haven't seen Crash, but am always months behind with films. The last film I saw at the cinema was Valiant - kids film about carrier pigeons during the war!

OK I'm no movie reviewer - don't go very often, but just been to see Pride and Prejudice. Very good girlie film. I loved it - and I think Jane Austen would have approved of the way it was adapted for the big screen.

:D :D

I'd taken this afternoon off to do some jobs :( Instead I spent most of it either on the forum, or watching 2 films on DVD. Firstly Fellini's 'Roma' - semi documentary of life in Rome during both the 40's and 70's - stunning! (although one scene made me feel ill!) Secondly 'Les Choristes' (The Chorus), which is a lovely feel-good film - almost had me blubbing into my hanky

I saw Walk The Line at the weekend. It was really good.
Before that I saw In Her Shoes, which was very long , and overall quite good.
Before that I saw Elizabeth Town, which was a bit cheesy and nothing special.
Before that was The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants, adapted from a book about a group of friends who share a pair of jeans for the summer. That was really good, despite what you might think, and had me and Carly in tears in the cinema.

My favourite films have to be Notting Hill, Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing.

Don't think I've seen any of those QuestaNotte (maybe Dirty Dancing). The 'jeans' film sound interesting  :P

My favourite all time films are: -

If.... (Lindsay Anderson)
Bad Day at Black Rock
Barbarella
A.I Artifical Intelligence
Blade Runner
The Forbidden Planet
Apocalypse Now

Hey guys - a movie thread, must have missed it first time around - cool. Going back a bit - but, I saw 'Crash' too last year - stunning scene where the little girl throws herself in front of her father to protect him - well, the whole cinema breathed in as one - shot back in their seats - ceased chewing, drinking, etc............time seemed to stretch like an elastic band - pity I didn't have a camera trained on the audience.........would have been a great 'photo.

Location makes it difficult to get to the movies, unless I visit big sis - but will be this weekend and am being dragged off to see 'Hidden' French film which sounds aiiiiiiiieeeee.....There are always DVD's (thank you Amazon) and my folks are great about friends coming 'round and last weekend there must have been fifteen of us (not all mine - some belonging to brothers.....) slumped around the TV - we watched 'The Interpreter', which was great - and I'm not a Sean Penn fan - but he was weirdly attractive in this - strange, must be going through a 'mature man' phase..........ho hum.

Then saw 'The Island'. The film was good but I find Ewan McGregor really irritating and what had Sean Bean done to his hair ? Looked like a stockbroker and anyone less like one than him, I can't imagine! (love SB, too - so confirmed. Must definitely have 'older man syndrome' - is there a cure? ).......but Scarlett (wonder what her fav book is? Or maybe her mum's?) was brill..........and obviously ticked all the right boxes with the boys in the room. Has anyone noticed the way guys forget to chew when someone hot gets within their field of vision - if they have a mouthful of food, that is. Be a bit silly to chew otherwise...........
 Joking guys........

The island... I loved the first half of the movie, then it falls...
Last film I saw was Brokebackmountain and I found it real boring.

Guess no-one watches movies on 'this side'..................saw 'Hidden' with my sis recently; I swear the actor Daniel Auteuil is in every French movie I've ever seen...........or maybe he's been cloned.........!! Good movie - not my cup of tea tho'............

Saw Flightplan - didn't take off for me (sorry :P) but one can only take so much of Jodie doing her neurotic act........

Saw 'Lost in Translation' on the Italian thread - what a great movie - loved Bill Murray's battered performance (and face...) - and while I remember - loved 'Groundhog Day' too.........

Groundhog Day goes on forever! I have not known any film seem as long as that. It was good though, you just had to get through the same day seven or eight times first!
I watched Pretty Woman again... It's still got it! I am looking foreward to watching Evita and Shakespeare In Love when I get the chance.

No one is watching movies on 'this side' because there is nothing worth spending £5/£6 on at the cinema! Also all the cinema goers like me are too busy studying for their exams to have any fun!
